The vision for Volkswagen Financial Services‘ new Delaware Drive office catering operation was to create more than just a canteen. Working with Scott Brownrigg Architects, Tricon was appointed to develop a strategy and design that ensured the restaurant experience in the workplace compared favourably to the high street in price, quality and authenticity, delivering a service that provided also the ability to graze through the day.
The focus was on providing attractive but flexible services that could morph through the day to meet the demands of the workforce. The design comprised a full servery and support kitchen, a hospitality pantry to support the meeting room suite and a coffee bar which was formed from a traditional VW Kombi van. The project utilised flexible equipment and an “On Demand” ventilation system for the hours of operation when service demand was lower which gives VW energy saving positives for the future
