Shell built their original 27-storey London office building back in 1962 and had to include a swimming pool, rifle range, cinema and squash courts just to entice people to come and work south of the river! Now, as just part of the £4 billion Southbank Place, the current Shell site has been redeveloped and Tricon worked with the professional design team to initially develop the new foodservice strategy, to act as a central focus for the Waterloo Campus, with Shell’s client team, write the operational and design brief and subsequently develop the designs for all the Food and Beverage areas.
The services now include a ‘Staff Dining Market Hall’ fed-off a main production kitchen, and comprising an interchangeable, flexible counter (for out of hours working), a traditional counter (with bespoke heated market type table), sit up deli and chef salad station, grill bar/breakfast bar with cladded feature pizza oven, Mediterranean buffet station and all-day coffee bar. There is also a separate hospitality kitchen to support the meeting and dining rooms on the 5th floor.
