Doha Asian Games – Doha, Qatar

Tricon assisted with developing the foodservice and contracting strategies for the Games Services including menu structure, service delivery and contracting of the services. Our input continued with the hospitality services for the temporary accommodation for Games’ family, officials and broadcasters, requiring a foodservice overlay in a number of apartment buildings and the specification for the temporary dining facility in the Athletes’ Village.

The Athletes’ Village in particular, required a high degree of planning and co-ordination in order that it could efficiently feed 18,000 competing athletes, 3 times per day, a feat that was complicated by the need to cater for a very wide variety of the different nationalities represented and the number of specialist diets needed.

We also developed the contracting strategy and specifications for cleaning and waste management contracts. The cleaning scope covered all accommodation, centres such as the broadcast centre and all games venues. The latter ranged from fixed venues such as stadia and the equestrian centre through to the bay of Doha for the sailing (clearing of debris in advance) and the desert for the endurance race (clearing afterwards).
