WPP – various, Europe

As part of a European-wide property consolidation and development, WPP looked to co-locate multiple agencies into regional hub centres where they could then provide improved central amenities due to the scale of occupation. Tricon consecutively developed the foodservice concepts and schematic designs for WPP’s Amsterdam, Madrid and Milan offices. From there, Tricon took the Amsterdam office through to construction, and the Madrid office to tender documents, each project offering a variety of challenges that have been triumphed to deliver the offering of foodservice facilities in each building.

In Amsterdam, WPP wanted to consolidate their 15 agency brands into a larger office to reduce their rental footprint. Bringing them under one roof meant that Tricon had to deliver a foodservice concept that would be accessible and well-received by a wide variety of staff and meet the standards of their previous office foodservice delivery. Tricon maintained a good narrative between WPP and the individual agencies to deliver a concept that would suit the 1,500 staff. On the ground floor staff can enjoy a barista-made coffee, baked goods and grab & go options from the café and hot/cold food from the staff servery as well as fresh salad, soups, deli options and cold desserts. Tricon designed a main kitchen as well as stores, decant and prep areas to support the delivery. On level 1 there’s a lounge bar supported by a pantry for a more relaxed client meeting and a fine dining restaurant on level 8 that can be transformed into an event space which interconnects with the sky bar on level 9 via a staircase – with spectacular views overlooking the city.

Much like the Amsterdam office, in Madrid Tricon designed a foodservice concept that would appeal to over 3,000 staff with a servery on the ground floor supported by a main kitchen which delivers a variety of F&B options. In addition, the design included a woodfired pizza oven in the servery – a popular and well-received piece of equipment that delivers authentic, restaurant-quality pizzas. Noting that good coffee is essential in the workplace, Tricon brought a barista-style coffee bar on level 1 with baked goods and grab & go options. On level 6 Tricon designed a kitchen supporting the executive fine dining rooms and meeting hospitality as well as an executive coffee bar for client meetings.
