The Oberoi Madinah hotel is a 12-minute walk from Al-Masjid an-Nabawi Al Sharief (the Prophet’s Mosque), and 7 km from the oldest mosque in the world Masjid Quba, and 10 km from the historic Mount Uhud. Centrally located to support pilgrims attending the Haj, this 330 bedroom hotel has 4 restaurants – Japanese – Kyoto, Indian – Al Andalus, All Day Dining – Al Ansar, and the Tea House. Additionally, the hotel boasts a banquet hall for up to 1000 guests.
Tricon’s scope of work was to redesign the 150 seat All Day Dining restaurant, which included buffet stations and a show cooking station. During haj seasons, this restaurant caters for high volumes of guests, where numbers increase to 1320. To accommodate the increased guest numbers, it was decided that the ADD required 3 large buffet counters. We also included 7 smaller stations for tea/coffee, soups, condiments/dressings, oriental desserts, bread/pastries within the restaurant. By offering multiple food stations, it enabled the restaurant to operate smoothly during the high seasons.
Tricon worked directly with the hotel operations team, the on-site project manager Akram Khan and the interior designer David Wrenn Interiors.
