The Stratford nominated for a RIBA Regional Award 2020

The Stratford Hotel has been included on the RIBA Regional Awards 2020 shortlist.

Named in the East London category, the apartment tower and hotel with shared fitness, work, dining and entertainment spaces is one our most impressive projects of the last 12 months.

Manhattan Loft Corporation commissioned Tricon to develop the food, beverage, laundry and waste management design package alongside SPACE Copenhagen Interiors. Skidmore, Owings & Merrill were the architects on the project.

The award entry reads:

Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (Europe) for Manhattan Loft Corporation

Located alongside Stratford International Station, this apartment tower and hotel shares fitness facilities, workplaces, dining and entertainment spaces between residents and guests. A triple-height entrance lobby features a 10m-high fireplace underneath an installation by artist Paul Cocksedge. The tower’s steel and concrete structure, and double cantilevered form, position each apartment no more than eight storeys from a shared open space, including three communal sky gardens. The building’s major structural elements are exposed, negating the need for additional finishes and reducing the volume of material otherwise required, lowering the project’s whole life embodied carbon.

We’re delighted to have been a part of this fantastic project and look forward to seeing the result of the competition.
