Ride4Richard - Mike's Charity Bike Ride

Many in the industry will have known Richard Beastall, Managing Partner of tp bennett Architects. Sadly, last year, Richard lost his battle with cancer after fighting the disease for 20 months.

He was a much loved character in the industry who was key in building the reputation that tpb had as one of the leaders in corporate fit-out design.

Over the years he was also a great supporter of Tricon, introducing us to many projects and helping us win many commissions.

He made a big impact on many people’s lives and projects in the industry and will be greatly missed.

In memory of his name, tp bennett organised “Ride4Richard”, an industry event that Tricon and many other industry companies chose to sponsor.

Ride4Richard was a three day cycling event from Matlock, Derbyshire (where Richard was born) to the East Sussex coast where Richard lived, a total of 275 miles.

As part of our support of the event, on the 19th September Tricon MD, Mike Coldicott took part in the third leg of the course along with 70 other cyclists, from tp bennett’s London office in Southwark to the East Sussex coast. Riders covered 70 mile across the Sussex downs in aid of tpb’s chosen charity, Story FMR (Funding Melanoma Research), a new charity headed up by Richard’s oncologist, Dr Mazhar Ajaz.

Melanoma is now the 5th most common cancer in the UK and cases have risen faster than any other cancer. The aim of Story FMR is to prevent and cure melanoma by funding research into the disease in order to develop effective treatments.

As many of you know Mike is a keen cyclist but this was a truly challenging ride with some serious climbs over the Sussex downs!

If you would like to sponsor Mike (however small) it would be greatly appreciated and is going to a really worthy cause. Make a donation by visiting virginmoneygiving.com/RideForRichard. Please remember to tick the box for Gift Aid as this increases your donation by 25% by recovering tax from HMRC.

Thanks in advance for any support you are able to give.
