Dublin Site Visit by Tricon Revit Technician Daisy Bentley
Recently I visited a global investment firm’s Dublin office with members of my team to complete a snagging visit.
This global investment firm will be occupying three floors of the Cadenza building. They had a day one headcount of 150 staff with room to increase to circa 300 within five years of occupation.
The project consists of a large back of house kitchen facility and front of house beverage & servery with grab & go options.
This project means a lot to me as it is the first I have been involved with from the initial brief stage to completion since joining Tricon two years ago.
I experienced first-hand how the time and effort put into creating drawings throughout the project lifecycle leads to the accomplished result, learning through these project stages all about food & beverage design and how I can utilise Revit to bring these drawings to life.
As part of the project, I created detailed Revit layouts and 3D models with related documentation, collaborating closely with internal design teams as well as external teams such as the architects and interior designers. I integrated their vision of the space with ours at Tricon into my Revit models, ensuring drawings were as life-like and accurate as possible for the client.
We brought our general arrangement layout to the site and compared our detailing with the ongoing work, taking pictures and notes of anything that was unexpected in our snagging document.
The site was still under development; however, it was vital for me to see the progress to inform my understanding of the ongoing design process.
At this point, the work that needed to be completed included installing the last of the counters and ensuring all equipment was in the correct position, meaning there is an opportunity for us to re-visit the site when the works are complete.
Further on into the project, my team and I returned to Dublin to see the additional updates to the construction of the site.
I was extremely impressed with the outcome and how well all aspects of the design were coordinated. The result was a highly rewarding reflection of the time and effort contributed by all design teams involved.
It was highly beneficial to take photos of the final fabrication of both the back of house and front of house areas to compare with my Revit drawings and counter elevations. This was valuable to have a record of to inform my future work, helping me ensure the drawings I produce are as accurate as possible.
Overall, we had a successful trip giving us a clear understanding of the status of the site and how close it is to becoming a fully functional back of house kitchen, along with a front of house servery and coffee bar for all staff to enjoy.
I am incredibly proud of the work myself and the team have done on this project. Seeing it evolve from concept to completion of a functional food & beverage space has been crucial to my development as a Revit Technician, noticing how much I have learnt from my training and mentoring and how this has informed my work now two years later. I thoroughly enjoyed working both with the team in-house and external design teams to bring the client’s vision to life.
