FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022

Tricon worked on six of the eight Qatar 2022 World Cup Stadiums. All projects were delivered in BIM Revit.

STADIUM 974
This stadium was a world first, as a 40,000-seat demountable stadium. It provided a FIFA/ SC compliant stadium for the World Cup and then was fully demounted and donated to a nation lacking such facilities, where it can be re-constructed. The principle was to use shipping containers to house the main components, all sited within a steel framework. Our scope covered waste management strategy, food & beverage strategy and kitchen design.

AHMED BIN ALI STADIUM
Following the tournament, the 40,000-seat stadium reduced to a capacity of 21,000 and became the new home of the Al Rayyan Sports Club. Tricon was part of a design team with BDP Pattern Design, developing the designs of all kitchen and hospitality support areas.

AL THUMAMA STADIUM
Following the tournament, the 40,000-seat stadium reduced also to a capacity of 21,000 and became the new home for two of Qatar’s football teams as well as housing a hotel and Aspetar Clinic. Our scope covered waste management strategy, food & beverage strategy and kitchen design.

AL JANOUB STADIUM
Following the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar, this iconic 40,000 seat stadium reduced to around 20,000 capacity and accommodated the Al Wakrah Sports Club. On non-match days, the facilities serve as a social hub for residents and visitors. Tricon was part of a design team with Zaha Hadid and AECOM, developing the designs of all kitchen and hospitality support areas.

LUSAIL STADIUM
The 95,000-seat stadium hosted the opening ceremony, certain group games, the semi-finals and the final. Following the World Cup, it was converted to accommodate three schools plus two clinics in its Legacy mode. Our scope covered waste management strategy, food & beverage strategy and kitchen design.

EDUCATION CITY STADIUM
This was another 40,000-seater stadium used in the 2022 World Cup. In its Legacy mode, the stadium was repurposed to accommodate the campuses for several universities within Education City, Doha. Our scope covered waste management strategy, food & beverage strategy and kitchen design.
